Position Title:  Production Operator

 

Location: Barbot Hall Industrial Estate, Mangham Road, Rotherham, S61 4RJ,

Pay Rate: £

Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday on a rotating shift pattern.

Days, Afters & Nights. 06:00 – 14:00 / 14:00 – 22:00 / 22:00 – 06:00am.

Weekend overtime is available. Sat: x 1.5 rate, Sun x 2 rate

 

The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, you will work as part of the Production team to ensure the effective running of the production lines. You will be responsible for operating equipment and machinery, performing basic machine maintenance and providing training (when competent) to other members of the team. Accurately completing paperwork and working in accordance with company policy, procedures and standards will all form part of your role. As a Production Operator, you will work to ensure the site is audit ready at all times, ensuring any non conformances or safety related issues are reported and rectified as soon as possible.   

 

 

Overview of Key Duties:

  • Operating production equipment to deliver the required production plan and targets.
  • Work to Standard Operating Procedures, short interval control, suggest and escalate corrective actions to your supervisors.
  • Completing Product / Line Changeovers and supporting others ensuring the changeovers are completed efficiently and within the required time allocated to minimise impact on OEE.
  • Completing area/machine/equipment safety checks, immediately reporting any non-conformances, accidents, near misses or product / safety concerns to Supervisors.
  • Completing quality checks and documentation / IT system entries.
  • Identification of Non Conformance materials or finished goods and providing corrective actions suggestions.
  • Providing buddying (mentoring best practice) training to other Team Members
  • Active participation in housekeeping, asset care, PM schedule, overhaul and audit ready activities.                                                                                                       
  • Completing effective handovers with oncoming team member to provide an update on any safety, quality, people, delivery or cost issues arisen during working hours.

  • Experience working within a fast paced manufacturing environment operating production / packaging machinery
  • Good understanding of English, Maths and Comprehension
  • Ability to use standard IT programmes / in house systems to record production data for example
  • Ability to understand and to work to approved Standards / Safe Operating Procedures
  • Good understanding and awareness of Safety and Quality Standards within a workplace
  • Able to work well as part of a team, meeting individual and team targets
  • Ability to and experience of training other team members
  • Ability to work using your own initiative
